Pick Classical Guitar: Volume 1 is written for the beginner of any age, who intends to play the classical guitar correctly from the start. The book begins with a description of the instrument, how to tune it, the hand positions and reading music. Reading music is explained stringby string, the pupil then learns well known traditional melodies which are written to be played in duet format with the teacher. A CD is enclosed with a master track to play along to. Many of the pieces also have a separate accompaniment track.

Pick Classical Guitar: Volume 2 follows on from Volume 1 by using original pieces for solo guitar and guitar duet. Each piece uses a particular guitar technique that will develop the student’s ability to perform. I have kept the editing to a minimum. I know guitar teachers like to add their own fingerings to music and as no two pupils are the same, I feel they should have that freedom of choice. The pieces are written mainly in 1st position with no difficult stretches or complicated 2 part writing. The music is intended for performance from grade 1 to grade 3 level. There is a section at the end of the book for study notes on all the pieces plus relevant scales, arpeggios and cadences.

Pick Classic Guitar: Volume 3 is written for the classical guitarist of intermediate ability (approximately grades 2 to 6). The solo pieces are all original and they include specific musical and technical challenges to improve your playing. I have edited the music for both left and right hand fingering. There are study notes for the pieces at the back of the book.
